Mustang Hood SMOKE(A LOT)

So I was just cruising around town and suddenly tons of smoke starts coming from the hood and I smell the coolant liquid. So I drive the stang to the mechanic and they said the whole intake is gone, just broken and done with. Total cost/labor is 884 for parts and labor, but the main issue here is did I burn the engine because there was no more water. So my main Q is... should i keep this stang that i just got 4 months ago after the fix?

Re: Mustang Hood SMOKE(A LOT)

the block you have in the car is an iron block so its rather strong and takes heat well. Since you will have the intakes off check the block level and see if its warped. If it got to your mechanic still running it could be ok, you need to make sure the block isnt seezed up due to the coolant potentially getting in it, it would be a good idea to check the heads for warp as well while you are at it.

It all depends on how long the car was run hot and if coolant got into the intake tract~

a replacment engine for your car is probably about 500-1000 bucks in good shape and drops right in FYI. (not counting labor of course)

Basically, SpectorV is saying that even IF you have to do an engine'll be well worth it! To me, it makes NO SENSE to get rid of it....especially if you've just dropped damned near $900 on it.

I agree with outlawfrog, there is no reason to get rid of it if you already dropped the cash on it.
