Next on the list

So during my first deployment overseas I finally got my first mustang. It's a yellow 98 GT. The first thing I have gotten was a cold air intake(american muscle). Now I am looking for what I should do next, but with paying off college I haven't got alot of money. So any suggestions or hook ups on where to get great deals. Thanks everyone.

What are you looking to do next? Exhaust? Gears? Need some more info before we can attempt to give you any help. However, since you've done the intake side, I'd work on the exhaust in order to maximize the benefit of the CAI. If you can't afford a kit, check with your local custom exhaust shop to see what a couple of Flowmaster 40's and installation labor would cost. Could probably get it done for about $200.

Cat back exhaust is always a good mod, you can go on youtube and hear different exhausts till you find the one you like. Is it a auto or a manual? If it's a 5 spd. a short throw shifter would be a good upgrade for around 200 bucks. Check out American Muscle for great deals.

Re: Next on the list

So anyway good to see some replies on here. So went under the car today and realized there are flowmaster mufflers already on it so thats a plus. For the question it is a auto. On to other discussion, I was looking at throttle bodies and was wonder if there would be a great difference between a 70mm and 78mm. Let me know and thanks again.

Re: Next on the list

Unless you plan on forced induction down the road, getting anything bigger than a 70mm wont really help you. If you have an auto, i'd recommend getting some 4.10's if you havent already. Its relatively cheap and will really wake up the car

Re: Next on the list

Yah, as chris098 said look into some 4.10 gears for your GT. Put them in and your car will really throw you back into your seat when you floor it. I'd also consider a tuner or dyno tune. Depending on the nature of the tune, you can gain considerable hp and tq (20-30) and most importantly, greatly improve your auto tranny - shift points/pressure etc.

Install gears and follow it up with a good tune, and your car will move pretty damn good.

Re: Next on the list

Before you do gears seriously think future plans. If you are gonna go F.I. you might wanna rethink 410's.If not then 410's are great.I love my 410's but when the blower goes on the 355's go back in.

Re: Next on the list

Well I have been looking at the 78mm BBk throttle body. On that would a spacier be a good idea. Also what would my hp be after the add.

From what i have heard the throttle body is not really worth the money and the spacer is worth as much as a paper weight. Why dont you invest in a nice midpipe or a set of longtubes to help her breathe better. You will love the sound and feel of the LT's.

Yeah for the price of a new TB or throttle spacer, your money is best spent elsewhere.

gear/tlok (rebuild or replace) and a speed cal unit to calibrate the speedomter. Should run you around 700-800 bucks and shave off a good .4 - .5 (at least) from your 4th mile times if you go with 3.73's.
