Head lights

I know you guys probly tired of reading all the things i post but i got another question.

MY head lights r shot due to water damage and ones cracked(dunno how) but were can i find the best SMOKED/BLACKEND lens headlight and corners for the right price. I've seen some on AM but $200 is like a shot in the leg to me so just looking for mabe other oppinions or sites.

I know of the VHT Black out paint but i'd rather not use it....personal preferance.

thanks ed

Re: Head lights

I've looked hard and long for cheaper smoked headlights too...ones just like the ones on AM. I've seen a couple different places on ebay selling them for $63. But then, you get what you pay for. I've heard nothing about good things regarding the ones from American Muscle...good quality, fit and finish. So, for a good product, I am willing to pay a little more.

I guess all you can do is look for someone selling them privately cheaper (good luck with that happening, lol) or wait for them to go on sale at AM.

Re: Head lights

I would go oem ford, after markets are known for moisture and such~ expect 140 each new (might be less contact Tousley Ford Parts Depot for a price)

Re: Head lights

All new head/tail lights need will (should) be resealed which isn't hard.

Re: Head lights

The VHT along with a lot of clearcoat is good for your rear markers and front turn signals and is not that hard to do but I wouldn't use it on headlamps or tailights....just my 2 cents.

I never thought of that...would it black out the amber turn signal indicators similar to the look of the smoked headlights?

There are quite a few different styles of bumpers for the 94-98's. Even more for the 99-04's.

I'd personally stay along the lines of Cobra, Roush, Saleen, or Steeda...not only because of looks, but because of quality in fit and finish. From what I've heard, the Cobra pieces install with the most ease. Stay away from that ricer fiberglass crap with six air vents and two built in toasters...they're junk.

Just make sure to order from a legitimate place, (some our site sponsors or some good sites thrown around on the forum). A place like Rick's Cheap Bumpers (made up example) selling a full Saleen kit for $300 is probably junk.

Also, make sure the parts are made of urethane, not fiberglass. The urethane will flex, making fitment easier, and might save you from buying a new bumper if you bump it. Most bumpers come ready for paint, some come prepped, so be ready to spend as much on paint as you did on the bumper (if you want a decent paint job).

The biggest thing to remember about buying pieces like bumpers, you get what you pay for. Be ready to spend a little more for the bumper and paint...you'll be happier with the end results...any questions about a part you find, just ask us

Re: Head lights

there are tons of choices but keep in mind you get what you pay for, and some require tons of body shop work to make fit/look good if they can be made to do so~

Yes it does. Its all up to you on how dark you want them. I used a scotch bright (lightly) to prep them. Just make sure you count the coats you apply so they both come out the same. Mine are blacked out not smoked and the lights shine through nicely.

Cool, I'll have to try that this spring...if I **** it up, I'll probably just buy the smoked ones on American Muscle, lol.

I got mine from Blue Oval Industries. I agree with what was said above, you get what you pay for.
