Re: Radar detectors

The leading detectors on the market are the Escort and the Valentine. They're not cheap, but they will give you the best results of any dectector.

Re: Radar detectors

I didn't click brent's link, but like has been said, passport and valentine one. I like the V1 personally due to it having arrows to tell me which direction the radar source is coming from...plus, as tech changes you can send that unit back in for upgrades anytime and won't have to keep buying a new detector.

Re: Radar detectors

Stay away from the Cobra brand. The best is probably Valentine. I know Escort also offers free software upgrades and will pay the price of any received tickets the unit doesn't prevent, or something to that effect.

You should also realize that there is a difference between radar and laser detectors and even te detectors themselves read and alert the driver differently. For instance, the lower priced units may just tell you when a signal has been painted on your car and thus might be too late to slow down to avoid the ticket. Some of the other units will tell you when there is a signal being sent, receive the signal and also send out it's own signals to confuse the signal's source (these are known as "jammers").

And of course detectors are not 50 state legal.
