So....

Who on this site has had troubles with the spark plugs not threading back in?

Cause I do. And it sucks ***

Quick back story. Coming home from a friends house and heard a loud ticking noise, so I pull over shut the car off and checked the vitals, checked under the car, sniffed from the exhaust, everything seems ok. Get towed home and run to the parts house to pick up new plugs & plug # 3 on the drivers side is discolored and its threads are jacked up.

Here's the plug in question:

Here is the other ones.

notice how on the 1st pic the plug is darkened compared to the other plugs

Re: So....

if your threads are continually being messed up you may need to get a helicoil kit or what ever and repair the threads.

Re: So....

When I pulled the plug out it didn't take threads with it. So I'm hoping that a chaser will fix it.

Re: So....

thread chaser will take care of it. make sure you put anti-seize on the threads whenever you install spark plugs in alum. heads.

Re: So....

I'd get rid of those plugs while I was at it..no need for an expensive plug I promise.

Good man, I would run autolite/motorcrafts in the cobra if I could get away with them, all the other cars are running autolite/motorcraft plugs.

Re: So....

You're lucky you caught it early ... My 02 GT pucked the #3 plug through its coil pack about 4 months ago. I needed a helicoil to fix the head and a new coil pack that wasn't in 3 pieces. If the chaser it's working the helicoil might be your next best bet.
