Extended Warranties

Has anyone ever had experience with extended warranties? The factory warranty on my wife's 03 Mustang is about to expire and I want to get an extended warranty for peace of mind.

What companies do you reccommend? or not reccommend?

I've heard from one person that Warranty Direct is good.
Here's their site http://www.warrantydirect.com/index.asp

Thanks in advance.

Re: Extended Warranties

do it if you never plan on doing any mods to it.

if its modded and you bring it in, theyll place the blame on the mods, even if they have nothing to do with the part that broke(like a cracked manifold from flomaster exhaust weldins). unless you remove everything aftermarket before bringing it in.

i spent 2k on a warrany for my 97 gst spyder because i heard mitsus suck for reliability and crankwalk on the 2nd gens, and that was the biggest waste of 2k i ever spent.

Re: Extended Warranties

I picked one up on the cobra just cuz its to expensive to risk. The v6's are very easy to fix 99% of the time and cheap... you can buy the entire drive train for less than the warranty will run you. If you like the peace of mind by all means get it. My 01 has never had a problem and my 97 before it only used it twice (mainly cuz i had it to use) so its not something I really say is 100% needed unless you just want to be safe (which may make it worth it on its own)

Waste of money in my opinion if you are going to mod the car otherwise get one if the car will be a stocker...

Re: Extended Warranties

so long as you're under factory warranty, best one you can get is ford's own Extended Service Plan.. do not deal with easycare warranties, they SUCK and frequently turn down warranty claims for no reason, where as ESP is just like the factory warranty but with a deductible.. If you are worried about your car that badly.. it could pay off, but be sure to have all maintenance records in case the engine blows..

Or you could befriend a ford mechanic.. and they'd usually give you a good deal on repairs when needed..

Re: Extended Warranties

You know that extended warantees are how a lot of businesses make their money. If you have not had a problem with the car up to now I wouldn't bother with a warantee.
