My question is what would I need to do to make this work. I have the originial 99 intake manifold with the fuel inj stuff on it.... One person told me he has the engine, trans, and comp... but I would like to keep the originial trans and comp... Is this possible, should I pick up one of these engines? WHAT OTHER PARTS WOULD HAVE TO BE SWAPPED ON THE 94 TO MAKE IT FIT IN THE 99... THANKS GUYS....
From what car does the 4.6L come from? Ford's used the SOHC since 91 in lincoln town cars...they started using it in the mustang in 96...the 94/95 GT's had the pushrod 5.0's.
The 96/97 4.6L's were rated at 215hp 285tq, the 98's had 225hp 290tq, while the 99+ 4.6L's were rated at 260hp 302tq, so quite a bit of difference between the years. I'd look for a 99+ 4.6L for your 99. Anything else and your looking at lower starting numbers, plus a more difficult install.
