Accelerates

This is my first time asking. When I'm driving before I get to a stop sign I will put it in neutral going like 5miles p/hr and my car will accelerates to 1500 RPMs by itself once I hit the brakes to a complete stop it will go down to 500rpms, anybody knows whats wrong??

Re: Accelerates

But it wasn't doing it before, they told me that there was a misfire on bank 1 and to check the maf sensor P1151 and P1131 codes. I checked the spark plugs and the maf sensor then I reset the check engine light and it went off but now its doing this crap..when I step at the brake it stays accelerated I can say it takes a while to drop to normal 500 Rpms????

Re: Accelerates

my 2000 ranger does the same thing, i think its build-up in the throttle body not letting it close properly, get a can of carb cleaner and spray the linkage and inside the throttle body see if that helps, works on my ranger

Re: Accelerates

there is an idle decay rate variable that can be modified, this controls what you are doing, but if the ecu cant get clean signals it can take input wrong and idle the car higher or so. Clean your maf and your IAC (idle bypas valve, cylinder shaped thing on or near upper intake/throttle body)

clean with on contact NO residue electronic parts cleaner.
