4.6 to 5.0 tranny ?

I have a 5 speed out of 4.6 can it bolt up to a 5.0?, this is probably a dumb question but I am a fox body guy and don't know to much about the 4.6.

Thanks for the help

The 4.6 takes either the t45 or TR3650, where the 5.0 takes the T5.

No problem, I had the same questions a few weeks ago.

Hmm. I thought the T45/T5 transmission was the same, the T5 is just an updated version.

I know you would need a different bellhousing, and I would think a different shaft.

The 4.6 & 5.0 have different bolt patterns on the back of the block. The t-5 for the fox bodies & the 94-95 gt's are the same with the exception of the input shaft is about 5/8" longer due to the shifter placement on the 94-95's. The bell housing for a 94-95gt will be needed when using a 94-95gt & 94-04 v6 t-5. The 3.8 has it's own bell housing for the clearance of the 11" clutch. The 94-04 v6 t-5's are the same as the 94-95gt but the gear set is different in the v6 trans ( may be weaker ) Also the 99-04 v6 trans have a different speedo set up in the rear tail shaft for the newer cars but can be converted to be used in the older models. The 4.6's have the t-45's & 3650's. (96-04)
