Passenger side rear end squeak??

So, I have a 1998 Mustang GT Convertible. I noticed last night that when I am taking off from a stop or something like it I hear a squeak coming from the passenger side rear wheel area. I noticed this after going down a muddy bumpy road. I have never heard it before but do now. Any ideas on what this could be?? Its getting on my nerves...

It could be some grit from the muddy road that got caught under the spring perch. Trying washing the springs & see if that helps. Also check your shock bushings inside of the trunk & under the car since you gave them a bumpy road work out.

Re: Passenger side rear end squeak??

As big show 98 said, there's a good chance it's just a bushing. I'd start there and if necessary, replace them. No sense in spending unecessary money and overlook such a simple thing.

Re: Passenger side rear end squeak??

well take a deep breath, there isnt much back there to squeek.

You have a live axle, that is attached to a lower and upper control arm that bolts to the frame of the car. Other than that there is a shock back there and a brake line~ thats it. I am betting is a bushing in the upper/lower control arm or the shock where it bolts to the axle thats squeeking (or the spring where it sits on the LCA if the isolator is worn through it can be where the spring sits on the lower control arm). All are cheap to fix. Try spraying WD40 and see if it goes away (but will come back probably) try to narrow down the part that has the issue. You can do this without taking the wheel off, just need a set of rams to drive up on.
