Supercharger???

I have the chance to get a used Eaton 9lb supercharger for $700. I am thinking about putting it on my 03 that so far only has light engine upgrades like CAI and underdrive pulleys. I know the Eaton is the Ford factory supercharger they put on Cobra's and such and that it should bolt right onto my engine, BUT, my question is, should I do other stuff to my motor or tranny first to get it ready for the supercharger??? Or is the 9lb of pressure okay enough just to bolt it right onto my stock engine??? Anybody have one of these or put one on that can offer me some advice???

Re: Supercharger???

It won't bolt right up, you have to have an adapter plate just like us v6 guys. Having forged internals helps out a lot, because remember, when you add boost to anything, you're putting it under more duress therefore it's prone to breaking a lot easier.

Re: Supercharger???

You can put a M112 on the 2v. You can also put a Kenne Bell, Whipple or Procharger on it too. You have many options in forms of superchargers.
Normally I would say to shy away from the m112 on the 2v's because it's somewhat inefficent (due to not having an intercooler when on that engine) and the gains aren't amazing compared to other superchargers regarding dollar per hp gained.

But there is a kit available that includes most of the parts you need. You could use their supercharger (Magnuson M112) which is very similar to the m112, but slightly smaller and more efficient due to larger port durations and openings, or use the partial kit with the adapter plate and use an 03/04 cobra M112.

Tork Tech Inc.

You will still need larger injectors (probably 42#), upgraded fuel pump, heat exchanger (air to water), fluid pump (for intercooler core), fluid reservoir (for coolant), coolant lines, belts, etc. and the intake assembly for the Eaton.

And of course it will have to be professionally tuned to prevent blowing up your motor 5 miles after everything is installed.

Bottom line, it can be done, kits are available, but it's not cheap, especially if you pay labor charges, and there are other supercharging options...but it you want a M112 on your 2v, it is possible.

Re: Supercharger???

After all that I forgot the link to the intercooled kit:

Terminator Intercooled Kit for the '99-04 GT

The non intercooled kit is $200 cheaper, but I'd recommend the intercooled kit to help that supercharger out and save some heat/pressure on your engine.
