Wheel Bearings

I have been hearing some kind of humming noise coming from the left front side of the car and the last mechanic I saw a while back told me it was probably the wheel bearings. I was wondering 1.) how hard it would be to change wheel bearing? and 2.) roughly how much should a mechanic charge

Re: Wheel Bearings

It's not that hard to change out the front wheel bearings. They come sold as a hub. The only problem is that they need to be torqued to 250 ft-lbs which most common torque wrenches can't measure. I found that its the same brand from napa or ford.

Are you looking to replace the front or rear?

Fronts are easy, the rear not so much.

Re: Wheel Bearings

I always find the key to doing something for the first time is to take your time, never rush into it and dont have a deadline to get it done. If you come up on something that doesnt seem right, take a step back and think about it and read up online etc... dont break something or mess something up just because you didnt take a couple minutes to think about it.
