Exclamation Need Clutch Help!!!!

what would cause the throw out bearing to break, 6 months later the clutch shred, then 6 more months later the pressure plate mess up? When the throw out bearing went out i did not replace the clutch like a dummy. When the clutch went out the second time i replaced everything i even had the flywheel resurfaced. then i took my car to the drag races to see what she would do and shifting from second to third i messed up the pressure plate. what could cause all of these problems with the clutch? would you recommend going back with a Spec, or Ram Clutch kit? I was looking at the stage 2 for both of them any suggestions?

Is there an adjustment your supposed to make on the clutch? The clutch did have a little free play but i was told that it was supposed to.

Re: Need Clutch Help!!!!

No adjustment it an automatic adjustment you simply pull up on the clutch pedal then push it down if it clicks it needed to adjust otherwise it is good. It may have been a bad throwout bearing or ?

Re: Need Clutch Help!!!!

You would have choices of clutches but this depends on how you drive it and what mods you have and what HP. Make sure the throwout bearing is the self aligning type and check the throwout bearing retainer for any wear that may have cause the bearing to go bad.

Its an everyday driver i do push her sometimes and i do take her to the drag strip with my dad every now and then so she has a pretty rough life. I have some minor bolt ons; cold air intake, 3.73 gears, exhaust, and thats about all.

Re: Need Clutch Help!!!!

Most of my parts came from American Muscle. Here are my engine/drivetrain mods.
K&N FIPK Intake, Pro Products 75mm throttle body, Pro Products Intake plenum, American Muscle intake spacer, Granatelli 60K coils, NGK Iridium plugs, BBK ceramic shorty headers, BBK offroad X pipe, Flowmaster American Thunder cat back, BBK pulleys, SCT custom 93 octane tune, Spec Aluminum flywheel, Ram stage 2 clutch, Ford Racing Aluminum drive shaft, 31 spline Ford racing Cobra differential with carbon clutches, 31 spline Moser axles, Yukon 3:73's, Brembo drilled rotors, Hawk HPS pads, BBK non adjustable upper and lower control arms, Eibach lowering springs, Hurst shifter. I think that's it. Exterior not to much done Mach 1 grille, chin spoiler, tinted windows, 95 style Cobra rims, sequential tail lights I have Xenon 1/4 window scoops waiting for paint. Interior is just some bullitt pieces here and there, white face Cobra style gauges. I would say I have around 12k invested give or take with me doing most of the work. Should have saved my money for a Terminator!

How much of a gain in hp did you see with all of the add-ons? Was it worth it or would you reccomend another route?
Have you taken her to a drag strip or you just use her for cruising around town?

Re: Need Clutch Help!!!!

I haven't re tuned it since coil packs, plugs throttle body and intake plenum. Before that I put 256 to the ground. My best time on the track was 13.74 @ 101. That's leaving from a idle due to hooking up problems. That's why I just did the diff, axles and control arms, I'm hoping for better 60' times. I love beating newer GT's with my 02 it's kind of fun being the underdog with only 260 stock hp. As far as recommending another route that's up to you are you still making payments? I've seen a 2 valve run 9's on youtube just depends on how much you want to spend.

hahah nah it was a graduation present from the parents. paid in full lol. I installed new gears the 3.73 a cold air intake and an exhaust system. I took it to the track twice i ran a 13.8 so i think im doin pretty good for almost a stock GT lol. I like the power and the adrenaline rush. My dads got a Vette its fast and all but i just like the feeling of a mustang better.

Re: Need Clutch Help!!!!

13.8 is impressive for your mods! Since it's paid for I say build it.
