4.6 to 5.4 swap

Hey I'm on the works of swapping my 98 4.6 to a lightning motor. It's in already but I'm trying to figure out what im gonna do with the hood clearance. If anybody has any suggestions out there, I'm open to all of them. Thanx

Re: 4.6 to 5.4 swap

Personally I would go 3.5'' cowl. But then again you have many different hoods to pick from. I am not a big fan of out in your face hoods and what not. But the only hood that I think looks good on the 1994-1998 mustangs are the stock hood and the cowl hood.

Here are a few websites that I have bought from and have a decent hood selection.

Hope it helps.

If you are keeping the blower on the car, you will have to cut the hood unless you get a huge cowl hood. If not, you can actually get away with modifiying your stock hood a little.

Re: 4.6 to 5.4 swap

Yeah, the blower is def staying on, I think for now I'm just gonna cut up my stock hood as funds are getting to the end...lol, but the problem is that this thing sticks up above my fenders almost 6 1/2 inches and even if I go with a 6 inch cowl hood I'm gonna have a problem. I think for now the cutting of the stock hood is looking like it but maybe in the near future if I upgrade the charger I'll go with something that would put the intake towards the back side of the blower giving me some more clearance, we'll see. Thanx everyone for the inputs. I'll be posting some pics once the job is done
