What Mods For My Mod?

Allright, im sure yall have heard this question a few times. I have a 2000 GT
5-speed with 87K on the clock. Current mods are as follows. 1 1/2 steeda lowering springs, caster/camber plates, 3.73 ring and pinyon gears, powerflow 75mm TB, powerflow upper intake plenum, K&N filter W/air silencer removed, And diablo custom dyno tune courtesy of Muscle Mustangs in High Ridge MO. I want to make as much power N/A as possible, I know it would be easier throwing on a blower but I want it N/A. What Head Company would be the best Patriot, Sean Hyland, Ect...Also what cams would be the best to accompany said ported heads. Also would it be advantageous to pop in higher compression pistons? Im not going to be driving this car as a daily driver here in a few months so I just want it to RIP!!!

Re: What Mods For My Mod?

you've pretty much got all the bolt ons, start digging in the motor..........cam, etc.........maybe an aftermarket exhaust if you dont have one. try a site sponsor for which one to go for.

Re: What Mods For My Mod?

if you dont plan on ever going FI then yes, slap in some higher compression pistons.

hell, id try to build a mod5.0 or a 5.4L if i wanted to stay n/a. and some worked 4v heads(but worked 2v VT/Patriots will work great also, with the added displacement, stock 2v heads cant flow enough)

for a n/a application, you want a naturally aspirated cam profile. it allows overlap of the exhaust and intake to promote scavenging. such profile will also work well if nitrous is added later.

my GT dream combo is actually the following(if i ever have 10k cash to blow, you know how im spending it):

5.4L bottom end (Forged r/a, upped compression but streetable)
worked 4v heads or 2v VT stageII heads.
Longtubes / Xpipe
NOS Direct Port system
Viper Spec T56 with built 31spline eaton posi'd rear(though level5 IRS would be badass also)

350hp/350tq and a awesome torquey free breathing DD thats fun to drive, and then spray when i need to get somewhere fast.

Re: What Mods For My Mod?

I have just seen sooooo many mod mustangs with superchargers on them wich is sweet dont get me wrong. Im just one of those guys that want something different. If I cant get what I want N/A then I would likely go turbo, not s/c'd. And you are correct 281ci isnt much displacement to work with. Im in the infancy of doing research for this transformation. The reason I am so excited about the n/a route is I saw a article in one of my mustang mags about getting as much power from a mod motor as possible. They had to fabricate some trick intake system but I believe the final numbers were around 480hp and 440 tq and that got me amped. So again thank you all ahead of time for your imput and suggestions..

Re: What Mods For My Mod?

My buddy has them and his stang sounds *****. He also has a AFM power pipe from his air filter to his throttle body. I forgot to mention I have a MAC off-road H-Pipe, and flows.
