if you dont plan on ever going FI then yes, slap in some higher compression pistons.
hell, id try to build a mod5.0 or a 5.4L if i wanted to stay n/a. and some worked 4v heads(but worked 2v VT/Patriots will work great also, with the added displacement, stock 2v heads cant flow enough)
for a n/a application, you want a naturally aspirated cam profile. it allows overlap of the exhaust and intake to promote scavenging. such profile will also work well if nitrous
is added later.
my GT dream combo is actually the following(if i ever have 10k cash to blow, you know how im spending it):
5.4L bottom end (Forged r/a, upped compression but streetable)
worked 4v heads or 2v VT stageII heads.
Longtubes / Xpipe
NOS Direct Port system
Viper Spec T56 with built 31spline eaton posi'd rear(though level5 IRS would be badass also)
350hp/350tq and a awesome torquey free breathing DD thats fun to drive, and then spray when i need to get somewhere fast.
