Stock 03 Mustang

Hey Im new to all this stuff. I have a stock mustang and was wondering what would be some good things to do to it to increase HP, torque, etc.



A few things Im looking for specifically:

Exhaust

Chip



With the chip I was wondering, is it possible to get a setup where I can connect the comp to a laptop in the car and get readouts on stuff? Ive seen it on TV shows and movies but Im not sure how that works.

exhaust, cold air induction, rear end gear upgrade, custom dyno tune (NOT a mail order pos tune a real dyno tune) and of course buy a shifter ASAP its the first mod you should really do.

What should I do to the exhaust?
What do you mean by rear end gear upgrade?
What shifter would you recommend?

exhause = new mufflers/catback

rear gears= replace the ring and pinion in your rear end to a higher gear ratio

shifter = steeda tri-ax is popular...there are others

i'd read the forums about all of this stuff...just do a little research on the stuff you're considering

I had a steeda tri-axx with the steeda rubber-bolt on grip, and I loved it..

as far as bolt ons.......

CAI (Densecharger/Demolet, anything plastic)

X-pipe and Catback (register at mustangexhaust.com to hear one you like)

Underdrives (Steedas only, piggyback style ones like march are worthless)

Handheld Tuner (SCT XCal2 or Diablo Predator work fine, install their tune then add timing and take away fuel till you start to ping at wot, then you have just found the edge, then bring back the timing a degree or two and add in some fuel for a safe tune)

Shifter (Steeda Tri-Ax, MGW, Etc all work well, anythings better than stock)

Rear Gears (3.73's if going forced induction later, 4.10's if staying naturally aspirated, 3.90's if you dont know yet and you can get the best of both worlds later. oh and a traction lock rebuild or better yet, a whole new unit (31spline eaton posi with some 31spline axles will make for a stout rear end)

throttle body and plenum combo (stay away from mac)

thats about it before you start going into 1000$+ mods like cams, heads, nitrous, forced induction, forged internals, etc.
