ok, so yeah, checked the brake pad I could get to... and that pad is still 1/2 there or more so I doubt the problem is from that one... I'm fearing two things. The first is the smallest worry, and that's that the rotor on the inside is gonna be all sorts of ****ed up. This is because I'll just get some slotted and drilled rotors, and new pads, and see if the caliper caused the problem, or if it was just the inner pad that ****ed everything up.
The biggest worry is that a wheel bearing is going out. The grinding is getting worse. And it's not just when I'm braking now... it's bad when I start until I get to about 25 mph. It reminds me a little of when my dad's F-250's ball joints needed replacing, except that was only on some sorts of turns that it sounded awful.
Other than removing the wheel and having a look, is there any way to tell easily via some simple driving test which is the problem? (Also, my brake fluid is low, as the E-brake warning indicator comes on when I brake hard [if that helps diagnose a problem])
Would a sound clip help you guys? Seriously, I picked up the tripod from my house today, and have cable internet at my new apartment, so I can upload the video and you guys can get a better appreciation for everything.
please help me... I'm tired of my car trying to die on me.
