has anyone tried removing the air silencer and tried using the spectre(or spectra) air filter ?? it looks just like a K&N but half the price and it has a lifetime warranty !!

yes to both, I'm using the spectre on my car now, yes autozone will honor the lifetime warranty. I have a homemade ram-air using pvc, kind of like jlt's ram-air intake but about 160$ cheaper.

Re: air silencer and spectre air filter

just the air filter wont make a huge noticeable difference performance wise~ but it is a good investment if you plan to keep that setup as its cheaper overall than a paper filter.

I would look on ebay/craigs list for a used intake like C&L or JLT or MAC and see if you can find one from when someone sold the car or something and is looking to off load it for a good price~ that might be one way to go.
