Tit problem on front brakes. I'm stuck

Just had a bit of a rough time putting on my hawk pads from american muscle. Brakes are pretty straight forward and I've done them plenty but I need to take these back off to get piece of mind.

One side the caliper went on fine but the other side had 2 little tits on the backing plates of the pads that prevented the caliper from slinding on. I ground one of them off. All the pads are the same style, I called hawk.

But now the other side, I'm afraid I got it on luckily and the caliper may have slid over the tit and will put uneven tension on the pad. Those tits look like they slide in a groove on the caliper fingers opposite the pistons. The tits were off a little on the one side thats why I had to grind it off.

So I don't know how I got the first side to go on thats why I have to take it back off but really don't want to.

Thanks for the help.

Re: Tit problem on front brakes. I'm stuck

I just did my fronts & backs with new rotorpro rotors & hawk ceramics & I know the rear caliper pistons have to be just right to line up with the tits on the pads but I don't remember needing to worry about it on the fronts. I don't think there where tits on the front pads, only the backs. My front & rear pads where different.

Pretty much "I got 'em and they get in the way" kind of way?

I'm sure most people don't mind them in their way.

... I guess I will not talk about tits

since its just a single piston caliper it might cause an issue, heck even sticking. I would personally take them back off and ensure its all done right. Send pics to hawk before to many miles and who knows they may give you a set of free ones to replace them with aka put up and use later.

No tits for you?

BTW I'm sure the little tits on the pads won't hurt much other than a little bit of the alignment on the rotor. I would just make sure your wearing correctly on the pad/rotor with no grooves, noise, or excess wear/dust.
