If you picked the N/A V8 mustang for modding reasons you would've made the wrong choice. Do you know how easy and cheap it is to increase boost pressure on a turbo car? You can buy parts from home depot for 20 bucks if you don't have 100 to buy a commercially available boost controller.

Or spend 1000 dollars and do it the right way with engine manangement and exhuast and you can easily get 100 horsepower on the WRX.

I have intake, headers hfc and cat back and sct tune on my 01 mustang GT 5 speed and I bet I ONLY added 30 horsepower. And spent about 2200 dollars

I spent about 800 on used WRX STI injectors and the larger STI turbo and an internet tune to reprogram the ECU and don't need a boost controller because it's all done through the computer and put down 310 whp.

P.S. anyone that you see with a boost controller on a WRX isn't raising the boost the right way. That's not the way to do it but it works.

WRXs are a lot of fun, as are subarus and AWD cars in general.. And yeah, it's easy to upgrade boosted motors.. Not always as cheap as you'd done, but easy..

Did you get used parts for the stang, too? I'd think for $2200 you'd be running faster than 14s, heck I ran a 14.0 with a short throw shifter... Or am I quoting the wrong guy's times.. - Did you install those parts yourself? I spent less than $2k on my rustang ($250 of which was the tune) which I paid $4k for to begin with, just need to get out to the full 1/4 mile to see how it actually does.. I haven't felt like getting up at 5AM on a Saturday yet to find out

Pre-boosted motors are fun, too.. I spent ~$1500 on go fast parts for the regal, most of that was for the upgraded torque converter and the changed final drive ratio.. Sent the SC out to a CNC shop full port/polish on the SC housing/LIM.. used headers, 3.2" pulley and a pieced together used IC system.. Put down 362 ft lbs and 270 HP at the wheels.. Factory was 260 tq and 240hp at the crank.. That's quite a bump

BBK shorties-500
HFC-400
SLP LM1-500
INTAKE-300
SCT TUNER-400

Roughly 2100 some are rounded.

I have an old car and driver that showed 14.5 for 01 GT so I shaved half second. Not bad for boltons in my book. Stock tires too. I only ran 2 times so maybe I have another tenth or two left in it. Stock 3.27's too. It's only rated at 260hp at the crank stock.

I only see the newer mustangs with 315hp running mid 13's from the factory

Just noticed that you have 3.73's and an sct tuner is that how you pulled your 14.0? Exhaust too?

Pulled 14.0 with the short throw shifter, stock tires and flowbastard 40 mufflers tacked in place in the stock piping..

3.73s and SCT (which was still set for 87 octane due to pinging issues on 91 octane.. damn CA oxygenated gas) came later, as did the plenum and TB and nitto DRs - only have 1/8th mile times with that setup (best 8.6@81 with those changes - should be equal to mid 13s, but I hadn't tried it at the full 1/4)

Now procharged with 3 core intercooler.. Curious to see how it runs now..

My previous 02 GT back in 2005 ran a best 14.0@99.98 (was disappointed that I came so close on both barriers) with short throw, diablosport and FRPP shorty headers, nothing else - stock tires, definitely good for 13s with sticky tires.. Got tboned 30 seconds from the shop after I put in some 4.10s, so never got any further with that car..

If you spent more time at the track in your car you might see some drops in times - even with mods.. I've found that shifting at 5600 lands me much better times than shifting at redline.. and of course launch plays a large part of it

Re: mustang vs wrx

Not my best run.. and spun a bit off the line.. And yes, I beat the driver, not the car..

This run was a little better, and again beat the driver.. (I'm the second one running - against the cobra) that cobra was running slow all night (you can hear my buddy calling the cobra a dog haha)
