Does anyone know if a a 5.4 modular will bolt in in place of a 4.6 in an '04 Mustang GT?

not as easy as you think. i too was on the 5.4L/4V swap, but its not an easy task. i dont remember the entire list of parts, but its long. and its not a direct changeover.

whats the main reason for wanting to do the swap other than saying you have a 5.4L engine. Just wondering if you might be going through the trouble for nothing.

The swap is worth it for the torque difference if nothing else.
It is a very lengthy and complicated install however. It is a tight fit if you go DOHC...which is the only way I would go.

besides the the usual stuff you will need a different hood, different intake, 4.6 GT intake will not fit, and the truck intakes are not the best for horsepower. Eithet a 4.6 with adapters or custom intake. Custom headers. I think that might be it

^+1, birdman, ive seen u on mach1regisrty.com and u are one of my heroes lol. i am in the process of the 5.4 swap, i was going sohc, but now dohc because i found all my stuff for cheap. the 2v swap is not as hard as people think, the trannys bolt up and u have to extend some wiring for the 5.4. they make adapter plates for the pi intake to fit on top of the 5.4 and ull need a 8 bolt flywheel and matching clutch. the engine is taller but they make k-member spacers to lower the engine down. ull also have to modify the mid pipe. the 4.6 will not match the 5.4 in torque delivery so that alone is worth the swap. birdman actually has swap kits for the swap. ill actually pm u birdman w/ a few questions about your swap kit.

Like a buddy told me lately, If you can put a 427 in a 72 Pinto (which I did), you can put a 5.4 into a Mustang which is made for the same engine family. The 5.4 is the same engine as the 4.6 with just a taller deck, just like the difference between the 5.0L (302) and the 351 windsor. So the block's a little taller and the heads will be a little higher too. Dropping the K member a couple inches and modifying the exaust a little and probably modifying the engine wiring harness are all things that can easily be done.

a 5.4 2v swap is pretty direct. you will have to get intake adapters or the hps swap intake. the 5.4 will clear the stock hood with minor modification to the hood. no lt header is available, and if you are doing a complete rebuild then you have to buy a few things for the 5.4.

Another one on the road in Naples, Florida.
Completed a couple of weeks ago in a 98 Cobra.
Motor is very mild.
5.4 32V (01 heads), forged lower end, flat tops, FGT cams,
and the Aussie intake (modded) with the kit.
Vids are poor quality, (sorry)
camera has been acting strange lately. In process: Finished product: Bad quality vids (again, sorry, but the sound does work well)
