Can a mechanical water temp guege be installed.

I bought one of those cheap mechanical water guages from the parts store and have notice there is 2 spot on the intake it will fit. one behind the thermostat and one on the passenger side of the car in the fron of the manifold. So what do I do with the sensor I romove, and what does each sensor control...I noticed the one on the passenger side seems to control the stock temp guage.

Can I just replace that one?

or another option can I just run some wires over to the other sensor and have both set wired to one sensor.

I know there must be better ways of doing this but I am on a incredibly small budget for the next couple months and travel 100 miles a day to work. I have had over heating problems and just replaced the radiator and wanted to be able to monitor the temp a little more accuratly then stock

any info is appricated.

On my truck I simply replaced the factory one. It works fine, just remember the factory one is no longer working.

BTW, be sure to check your coolant level afterwards as coolant will leak from the sensor hole.

Re: Can a mechanical water temp guege be installed.

you need to eep the shock sensor hooked up because the PCM needs to know the coolant temperature for the air fuel mixture. you have to find another port in the intake or buy a thermostat housing with port made on to it
