K-member question

Ok so I had the car up on the lift to fix my axle issue. So I was looking under the car while it was in the air, noticed the k-member has weird notches on the passenger side mounting point but the driverside does not.

Here is the passenger side.

Driverside

Now I know that I have a knocking noise coming from the mid frontend (that's what it sounds like anyway). The bolts aren't loose or anything. I was just trying to figured if this is right for the kmember to have those slots.

Also just for the fun of it, here is the so called dry and non-leaky oil pan I have (acording to one of our ford dealers). Yea sure it isn't leaking, guess they were blind!

Re: K-member question

I honestly have never looked...next time I'm under one of the cars I'll take a look.

From looking at it they do seem to be normal and not something that has worn that way.

Re: K-member question

Both sides have the notches it all depends on how the k member is adjusted as to whether the washer on the bolt covers it up or not. It looks like one side is push all the way forward/backward (can't tell from the pic) and the other is centered in the slot.

Sure it's not a rear main? I can't tell by the picture the location.

Beat me to it.... you can clearly tell from the picture that the driver's side is centered up on the slots while the pass side is completely pushed forward.

Well I'm not sure man. The location is on the rear of the oil pan right by the trans. I'm just going by what the alignment shop saw and told me and now I see
