R&R Eaton Supercharger with too much RTV?

I have an Eaton M112 supercharger on my 3.8 L and the guy who was "helping me out" used a little too much RTV/silicone, then it's not quite perfectly straight and I'm wanting to take it off and put it on right and with the gasket. Here's the problem; how do you get the supercharger off if the RTV is holding it in place like industrial strength superglue and without damaging the supercharger to intake manifold adapter? There's got to be an easy way, is there anything that'll dissolve the RTV to a point that you can lift the SC off easily or does it take all muscle?

Thanks! My Supercharged 1996 Windstar

Just a pry bar. That's all there is to it. U just need to make sure to pry on thick strong parts on the supercharger as not to crack it.

Yeah, we tried that but the intake manifold adapter is maybe 3/16" thick aluminum and the amount of pressure needed to break the RTV lose. The guy must have used enough RTV to put five oil pans on. I'm afraid to have it pried on too hard because then I'd be having more problems... There's got to be a better way, simpler way and I wish I knew what it was because I'm sure I'm not the only person up the creek...

You may be able to take your time with a good razor or sharp knife.

If possible use a 2 inch wide paint scraper to cut the rtv between the gasket surface. I don't know how much room you have but if you can start to cut it it will ease the stress.

Re: R&R Eaton Supercharger with too much RTV?

This is the best part of all; the guy didn't see the supercharger to intake manifold adapter GASKET sitting on my windshield so he went with straight RTV between the two surfaces! So there's no space to get anything but maybe his... in between the supercharger and intake manifold adapter... That's why I was hoping there was some magical way to keep from possibly bending or distorting the intake manifold adapter. Has anyone heard of a silicone does offer that would get under there and loosen it up enough so that not as much force would need to be applied to the supercharger and/or intake manifold adapter? Thanks!

This is the only place I could find any silicone rtv dissolver. Only thing is you have to buy it buy the gallon and is a little pricy but not to bad.
