Re: Shifter upgrade

MGWltd.com has the best shifter out there, low if no noise, great position vs the competition, and is the best built.

Re: Shifter upgrade

I second that MGW and Steeda are the very best. They look different but both are beautiful pieces of machinary.
If you have the money I would deffinately go with MGW but Steeda is nice.

Re: Shifter upgrade

MGW is about three miles down the road from me, he also makes lots of billet aluminum parts, always nice cars out front, he leases cars so he can make parts for them

Re: Shifter upgrade

I've been doing my HW and am leaning twoards the MGW.. Question -- according to some posts, I could damage my transmission if I use the stop checks on the shifter. SOme posts say the opposite. Any comments/suggestions?

Re: Shifter upgrade

I would say the same after looking thru all of shifters made from all companies MGWlmtd would be the best. It look to be they had more engineering thought thru.

Re: Shifter upgrade

you dont need to use the shifter stops, dont use them if you shift hard enough to need them then you are shifting to hard. Your trans as with most have built in internal stops. I have mine in the shifter but they are backed up quite a bit so they are not even close.

Re: Shifter upgrade

So is it an easy install or should I pay someone to do it?

Re: Shifter upgrade

install is very easy and straight forward. Minimum tools are needed~ I would get a shifter gasket (so you can use that instead of RTV silicon).

Nothing crazy to it, great time to change the transmission fluid as in your car the shifter is right on top of the transmission so while the stock shifter is off, drain the trans fluid and pour in fresh fluid in the top of the opening where the shifter was

If you're tight on dough the American muscle brand short throw works great. Not quite as tight as others I've tried but its damn close. Only 80 bucks too.

Re: Shifter upgrade

Hey guys, I purchased the MGW for my 2009 Mustang GT. The shifter is great. I see on alot of posts that it is as quite as the stock shifter, I have only 8000 miles on my car. I noticed that cabin noise is highest at around 2700-3000 RPM after I replaced my stock shifter. Any thoughts?

Agreed. I bought it and it's been awesome. It's also a great traveled compared to the steda if you do why winter driving. The stedagets really sticky in the winter. Make sure you swap the springs tho. The stiff springs are great and come with the kit. Simple Allen wrench install.

Hey guys in new here.
But in respond to you sbeck its because there is a silicon seal on the stock one and aftermarket do not us that same. Therefore allowing a little bit more road noise in and engine noise.

Ummm. AM recommends and sells the silicone gasket from their site and recommends you use gasket maker if you don't use the silicone gasket.

Yeah I know, but even if just using the gasket it still won't have the same seal as stock. I dident mean to give wrong info as I said I'm new here, and in 17 going to UTI.

On a t-45, I would recommend a pro 5.0 or MGW.

Re: Shifter upgrade

both are fine shifters, my issue is the reach on the steeda is very inferior and the reach is what I hate most about the 94-04 mustangs

I agree completely but the steeda is far superior to the stocker. I never miss the smash into 3rd anymore. But the cupholder is completely useless now

Re: Shifter upgrade

my old steeda was a little more springy into 3rd than MGW thats for sure. Some like or hate that though.
