t56 ls1

hello everyone. Im new to the forum so allow me to introduce myself. My name is Corey and I own a silver convertible 2004 mustang gt.

Ok so my 5 speed transmission is shot. A close friend of mine totalled his 2002 Camaro ss and sold me his t56 with a viper build for only $300 (he owed me a few favors and some cash before). I'm wondering what its going to take to adapt this to my 4.6 besides having to have a drive shaft made and the speed sensor. Somehow I don't think its as easy as swapping the input shaft and bellhousing.

Thanks in advance for input,
Corey

You can probably just swap bellhousings. No personal experience, but that's my theory.

I had the same question a couple of months ago. I believe that in addition to the input shaft and the driveshaft, the crossmember won't line up right and the shifter location is different. It would take a lot of fabrication to make it all work. Best bet is to sell his tranny and buy a viper spec or terminator t-56. Go to svtperformance.com and search the marketplace forum, there's always a bunch on there.
