1 st gear bog down.

I took off tonight. And my stang seemed to bog down them in second she pepper right back up. Third on the money. She gets really squirely in second third but can't figure out what is wrong in first. Any thoughts or suggestions greatly appreciated.

Straub I know you will be all over this one. Space saved. Lol.

Re: 1 st gear bog down.

LOL! man I really don't know maybe dirty mass air sensor. I know when I bought mine it would bog when I floored it and in higher rpms but i wouldn't know about it only doing it in 1st gear. Are you hitting high rpms when it does it? You might want to check cause when you top out 1st then shift to 2nd you might not be topping out 2nd as hard as 1st and so on.

Told you I saved a space for you. Thanks and yes she was at high rpms at all the gears. And she was all over the road letting her back end in the wind.

Yeah that reminds me I need to change my fuel filter its factory with over 125,xxx miles lol. Do you think it needs changing?

Oh when I got the car it still had the factory wires and plugs in it, the wires had the year on them 1994 motorcraft and 4 out of 6 plugs had a gap of around 90 thousands and it ran pretty good but ran awesome after I did a tune up.

Re: 1 st gear bog down.

Maybe you have some water in the fuel. There are only a few things that will make it bog, not enough fuel or not enough spark but I'd lean more towards fuel, if it wasn't a dirty maf then maybe the coolant temp sensor. But if you think it may be the fuel pump the buy a cheap oil pressure gauge and buy a fitting at the local hardware to screw on the fuel test port on the fuel rail and you'll have a fuel pressure gauge and you will be able to see if you lose any fuel pressure. If you do this and don't know how your fuel pressure works, i'll tell you when you start the car and its idleing look at the psi and give it a quick full throttle rev, if the psi goes down then you have a weak pump or stopped up fuel filter.

I have figured it out the traction control was doing it. It bogged it down to get traction and then once u went into second it didn't do it again. Please give opinion. I hope I am right.

Re: 1 st gear bog down.

turn it off everytime you get in the car right after you start it, see if it will do it again. I hate traction control ... are you actually losing traction to cause it, if so thats probably it. I have mine disabled

Get a tuner and disable it completely and if you got 112000 on the fuel filter it might be due too
