Finding some one to work on my stang?

I need to find some one in AZ that won't f-up my car and won't rip me off? The check engine lights on now it was making a rattling noise when it was in idil but it didn't do it yesterday but now when I reach a certain RPM's my whole car shakes?

Re: Finding some one to work on my stang?

If you take it to an autozone, oreillys, advanced auto, etc....you could get the check engine code read for free. Then come back here and post it up and we will be able to give you a relative idea what the problem is that's causing the check engine light.

The other issue, I'm not sure about and may or may not be related to the code you are throwing.

Either way, if you can get us the code, we can start trouble shooting it for you...then when you take it in for fixing you'll have an idea about what the problem is to curb some of the threat of being ripped off.

Take it to a autozone or some place like that and have them read the codes "its free" then you can buy the part or atleast know whats wrong with it and take it to a mechanic when you find one.

Re: Finding some one to work on my stang?

some autozones wont read code anymore and some will only let you do it yourself. Either way I am sure you can find someone to read them. Once you get the codes, write them down and post them up and lets see what we can figure out.

Really? That sucks...I haven't tried it on a non ford yet, but I was able to read codes from a 2000 ranger with no problems. I thought it was able to read any ODB II car....

I need to find a non-ford to test on I think....

I thought so as well... It wouldnt read but I sent a clear command that seemed to remove the code (wanted to see if it would come back)

Re: Finding some one to work on my stang?

I would think you can replace them, install MIL eliminators (dont work that great from what ive seen), or use a tuner and cut em off so the CEL doesnt come on.

A tune would kill two birds with one stone haha performance and no CEL.

Re: Finding some one to work on my stang?

you can get to it pretty easy, hard part is if its rusted in, should only take a few minutes to do if all goes well.

What is p0156 & 161? I don't feel like looking it up. Just want to make sure you diagnose correctly. Never believe the guy at auto zone. They are just trying to sell you a part and will always tell you a code means you need this part. There are lots of 02 related codes. Rich, lean, switching, heater. All need to be diagnosed properly. I don't see sensors go bad as often a people think. Always amazed how often people change these.
