2004 feels every bump in road

I'm new to mustangs. I like the feel of the steering. However, I feel every bump in the road in my seat more than any other car I've owned. Is that normal? Granted I've never owned a sportscar before.

Yes, especially if you have low profile tires, and/or a lowering kit.

Has to do with the solid axle and suspension, feels worse the bigger the rims, you can always get a looser suspension but that will make the car sway a little in turns.... Just something you have to live with in these cars

Yeah, completely normal. Especially if the suspension has been altered. Also you are sitting lower to the ground in a sportscar.

Just drive faster and then you'll fly right over the bumps!

Re: 2004 feels every bump in road

Im running 225/55R 16 Michelin Pilots No mods. Just a V6 Base. I'm ok with the feel as I just wanted to make sure it was normal and nothing wrong with the suspension.

Re: 2004 feels every bump in road

My 98 GT was stock suspension and wheels/tires it was average. My 03 Roush Stage 2 with the upgraded suspension and the 18" on 35 profile tires...bumpy but worth every second of the bumps.

Re: 2004 feels every bump in road

my IRS cobra rides MUCH better than my 01 v6 did with its SRA, I mean its not an amazing ride but far better on average... it also rides better than my friends 08 GT with a pro kit on it as far as bumps go.

Overall its not that bad, I think people exaggerate it or they have alignment issues etc

Re: 2004 feels every bump in road

my 04 is pretty bumpy as well. common for these cars. but if it seems like an abnormal amount, probably check shocks/struts, etc. and wheel size & tire def. makes a big difference as well.
