He said they were brand new never used. I'm thinking this would be a good mod moving up to these 3.55 instead of the 3.75 because these will be going on my DD and I don't want to be going thru gas like crazy.

Re: 3.55 gears

For the extra cash. I would just rather put the 3.73 in and be done with it. But that is what I am doing.

That's a good price for a NEW set of motive gears. 3.55 is a step up from what your running now (assuming your still factory) but if it was me and I am paying someone to install them for me I would at least do 3.73 in a daily driver. 4.10 if not driven on the highway alot. You'll like them a lot more and you can find them pretty cheap. I did know where there was a set of 3.90 motive "like new" for $100.

Well I have a family friend who is a auto tech teacher at one of the high schools here so installation will be cheap. And I don't really do alot of high way driving. My normal commute is maybe 30 miles

Re: 3.55 gears

I dunno, I wouldn't waste time on 3.55s, 3.73s or 4.10s will give you a whole lot more of a power boost and you won't have to change your gears later to get there. Have you looked up the new price on American Muscle for what he has? I try not to pay more than half list if buying from someone - he's probably selling them cuz he upgraded to 4.10s lol

What are you wanting to do with your car? Drag race, auto cross, street/ strip or just street? Very important in making a gear selection.

Ya 3.55 is too low. I haven't put enough miles on my 3.90s to really see how mileage is affected but the fun factor is triple. I am measuring my fuel consumption in smiles per gallon. Mileage so far really hadn't changed but I got less that 2000 miles on em. The mileage really hasn't changed really but the car feels like it accelerates twice as fast. Ask anyone who has em if they regret them. That and tuner are the best cost effective mod I have done.

Mileage so far really hadn't changed but I got less that 2000 miles on em do far but the pick up is unreal. It feels like a 50 hp gain. And these mod motors seem to be efficent at higher rpm and not really super big mileage loss. I love my car a whole lot more with them than without them. Gears do not disappoint on the performance end. Ask anyone who has em.

I'm just looking for street use. The track here isn't too good from what I've heard. So I'm guessing I'm gonna go ahead and find some 4.10 gears. Everyone makes them sound like so much fun.

3.90s or 4.10s for sure if you are gonna spend the money to have it done. My 3.90s got me better city miles and pretty much same on highway. But way more thrills. Less pedal pressure to get rolling. You won't be dissapointed with either of those 2 choices

If you can get those 3.90s from the above post I would go for it. It's a good price and will give you a couple mpg. They pull fantastic as I have the same gear and I am not disappointed. And when my nitrous hits I hit my head hard on the back of the seat. Whichever you choose I know you will be happy. Drive safe

That's what I would do! You can get them pretty cheap, they are a more common gear.
