Good choice either way. Stock they are both great and reliable. Modded out and you run into common problems but nothing big. Good luck.

Definitely the Cobra! What I don't get is what makes the Mach 1 so special to be priced with the Terminators?

Same 4v motor. Solid rear end. Pretty much drag pack. No blower.

Well if I get a cobra then I'm not going to upgrade anything really on it if I get a Mach 1 then I am going to eventually put a supercharger on it

Re: buying a 2001 mach 1 or cobra

03/04Cobra Has a blower and is forged which the mach is not.Mach is basically a 99/01 4v. You will be much happier with a 03/04 Terminator.

Re: buying a 2001 mach 1 or cobra

When compared to a 99/01 Cobra you have basically the same setup with diff interior and exterior. You will have a slightly faster car due to weight savings from the Solid Rear Axle when compared to the Cobra's Independent Rear Suspension. Lastly the cam profiles are slightly different and the Mach's are definetelly an upgrade as well as the heads are a later updated version.

When compared to the Terminator you loose out on quite a bit. The Machs are a niche group and seem to be holding their value well. While still underpriced when compared to the Terminators the Machs are a great deal but less bang for your buck in my opinion. You loose out on Forged Internals, and of course the Blower.

Lastly the Terminator is awesome. No if/and/buts about it. With an underated factory 395/395 hp/tq SAE spec, Roots style Blower, Forged internals, Aggresive driver's side Seat with complete lumbar and support adjustments in many different ways. Oh and a 6 Speed Tremec mated with a 31 Spline rear axle setup

With the terminator u don't have to really do any motor work. Straight bolt ons and upgrades. A few common problems. Fuel rail sensors. Rear end clunks. Transmission issues when you start making hp (but not all of them). Upgrades get expensive. I bought mine mostly built already and saved myself about $20k.

Really just depends on how they've been taken care of. I've seen cars with half a million miles that ran like they had 10,000, and on the other end, I've seen cars that have 50,000 that are knocking.

MY Mach 1 was $29,600 new , Cobra's at the time were $ 36,000 range plus the dealer mark up .............. sticker wise though that's $ 6,000 difference
Mach's have Cobra brakes ,and the engine , less the super charger ,and lets not forget the SHAKER ... and a few other things , And they were only about $3,000 more than a GT at the time , GREAT DEAL
