Question for you forced induction guys...

I realize that intercoolers help out alot with forced induction, but would one benifit an N/A car? May be a stupid question, but I was curious.

Not really. Cai is cool enough. Heat builds up when you compress air. N/a doesn't really have that issue.

Re: Question for you forced induction guys...

Ok! Thanks bud. Like I said, I was just curious if there would be any benefit. Still thinking about an intake plenum, and wasn't sure if there was anything else I could do to help out with the airflow.

The cooler the air in a n/a is better though. Fenderwell cai setup works to keep engine bay heat out.

Re: Question for you forced induction guys...

they wont help on an N/A car, only helps on a supercharged application as compressed air is hot and needs to be cooled down.

A plenum would help. On the new edge models that is the most restrictive part of the intake system. A bigger tb does help too however with both mods don't expect major gains,10 hp tops. These mods do help throttle response tho. Mine seemed to pick up a lil quicker,no lag. Do you know if your car has pi heads. If not that should be your first mod. Pi heads on a non pi motor is good for 70 hp once you factor in the increased compression ratio. And pi heads can be had for 200 bucks and they are am easy bolt on. Make sure you have an afternoon to dedicate to it and if it's your Dd make sure you have all the parts

Re: Question for you forced induction guys...

Yea Everett, I already have a BBK 75mm Tb on it, and I'm just waiting on permission from the wifey for the plenum...ahahah.
Actually, I'm kinda in the middle of what I want to do. I can get either the stack or c&l plenum....or a set of 3.73's for close to the same price. The plenum, I could easily do myself, but I'd have to have some major help with the gears, which I have a buddy that works at the other "O" store that'd help me out with that. He's also found PI heads at salvage yards for around 200 bucks, then add in a PI intake, it's just a tad too much for the crap pay I'm getting right now. lol Basically, I'm trying to get all of the least expensive stuff done first.

Well with the mods you have there you will have close to 270ish to the wheels. With a 5 speed and drag radials you could get down the 1320 in 13.8 if you slip the clutch at 5000 rpm. You have a good list there. I have basically same but I have 3.90s and nitrous. I spray 75 on the street and 175 on the track with meth I might add. It's zex tho so they are over-rated by about 10%. Good luck with your mods. You will fall in love with your car all over again.

Re: Question for you forced induction guys...

Yea....I'm still loving it! Got ALOT that I WANT to do to it. Unfortunately, if I decide to take it down the track, I'll have to sneak away to do it! LOL The first words out of the wifey's mouth was "You don't need to take it to the track! It's too dangerous, and we can't afford to fix it!" hahahaha

Re: Question for you forced induction guys...

Here's another question, on the fitment of the plenums. Will the still fit with the strut tower brace? Most of the "customer images" on AM have no tower braces, and I notice mine is already pretty damned close.

Re: Question for you forced induction guys...

EWWW.....that puts it REAL close to the tower brace. Errr....well, I just looked again. The only thing I think I'd have to worry about clearing, is the CAI tube, which I may be able to just turn down a little more, and MAYBE the IAC valve.

I'd thought about the PP plenum, also.....UPR has it for 99 bucks, vs the stack or c&l for 134 at AM.
