I'm right there with you man. I run cross country for my college here in Arkansas and this kid in a fraternity has a black SI and it is a clean car, I'm not going to bash but literally everytime he sees me on the street he starts trying to catch me to pass me. I have a 5.4 4 valve in my 98 gt and a 5 speed on that. Needless to say he never gets close to me. The weird thing is that he keeps trying and trying. I guess he's just trying different gears to see which one pulls harder than 160 at the front wheels lol whereas mine will pull well over 320 stick everytime. Not to mention the torque line is directly vertical at the throttle stomp. Gotta love cubic inches!

If you hear no BOV you should be good. I've been surprised at how much boost those little 4 cyls can take...

Re: Civic Si vs gt

What are the mods to the civic? They run about 15.2 at 93 stock so it might be closer than you think. I have both a 2001 gt that I remember seeing about 14.4 at 96mph stock. I've seen plenty of people that have exhaust and a tune and intake and rev to 8600 rpm stock and run mid to low 14's at 100mph in the civic SI's.

Here is my civic running so watch yourself out there. I love that most of the supercharged mustangs can't dream of my trap speed, 12.30 at 124.7 mph. The civics have strong top ends.

I just ordered my Kenne bell for my mustang and I know it won't touch my civic time. I run both on street tires also.

Funny thing is that my mustang has twice the cylinders and over twice the displacement but was advised not to run more than 430 whp in the mustang and as you can see in the video I touched 520 whp on race fuel in my civic and 420whp on pump gas. I guess the mustang has weak internals compared to my civic. People have put more than 50,000 miles on my civic turbo kit so the realiabilty is there also I guess.

V8 has a long, heavy crankshaft. It's hard to keep everything in there balanced. Especially under a load at high rpm's. 4 cyl engines have light small cranks. Easy to stay balanced. Only have to regulate fuel/air on 4cyl's. Plus the torque is usually way off from the hp. High revs make a big difference in a drag race. It's all in how fast the wheels are spinning. I have respect for a fast car. Any car.

Re: Civic Si vs gt

^Weight transfer is against me upon acceleration even with a limited slip diff. Remember I am running street tires and my 60' was about 2.15 so it comes with the territory. I only run street tires at the track. I like to be able to run it on the street like at the track....I walk all over cars that tell me they run 12's but then forget to tell me it's with slicks so then I say oh then you don't run 12's you run 13's haha

Re: Civic Si vs gt

A 2.15 60 is still pretty good for a fwd. on street tires. I just got a Vortech for my GT and hope to be in the low 12's maybe even high 11's with practice.

Re: Civic Si vs gt

I kind of enjoy how sloppy my mustang is. I can do burnouts and donuts and get sideways and it's a good time. But when I really want to go fast and enjoy the technology of a well engineered car that does exactly what I want it to, I hop in my civic and let the boost do all the talking. I've had mustang owners refuse to look at me after I put it on them. And I'm like why get all mad. Any time I was ever beat by a quicker car I always gave it a thumbs up. That seems to be a trend that I've noticed. People who drive jap cars and ricers seem to just be in it for a good time and when I smoke mustangs and chargers, challenger srt-8's and GTO's they get all mad and I laugh and point at them becuase I know it makes them madder! lol

Re: Civic Si vs gt

^ I like that it's a 4 door. I like the practicality. I had a 350Z and got tired of the 2 seater. Plus I love smoking people with a sedan it seems to piss them off even more. What could be worse than going home and telling your friends that a civic sedan smoked you hot coupe or sports car

Lol generally I don't think people go home and brag about being beaten by a civic thats something i'd keep to myself. but I can see your point about practicality of the 4 doors and shock factor of sedan assaults towards sports coupes as I pissed off enough people with just a mildly tuned grand am 4 door for a long time (nothing fancy) but all in all I tend to prefer the look of most two doors cars better than sedans and I love rear wheel drive too much lol but I wouldn't mind getting an sti too, all wheel drive kicks *** in the winter up here.

I did the front wheel drive thing before, I'd rather put the power down at the rear where it belongs. I had an srt4 and yeah it was pretty quick but torque steer sucked.

There are definitely some quick little hondas out there. I can admit that even though I hate them.
Personally, I will never have a front wheel drive car with any kind of power again. Corners suck!

Honestly you can't blame the people on here it is a Mustang site not a Civic or ricer site. Maybe you should talk more about Stangs than Civics. There are plenty of Stangs on here that would smoke your Civic. Just saying...

Get the stang boosted a good bit, it may make less hp than your civic, but I'd take the extra torque from the stang any day.

Re: Civic Si vs gt

American Muscles new 5.0 Track runs earlier today. "After our 10.43 at 130mph run in our Automatic 2011 GT, we wanted to see what we could do without the nitrous (plus we got yelled at, sorry Cecil County!) With only 4.10 Gears, Off-Road X-Pipe, JLT CAI & Bama 93 Race tune, and Boss Intake Manifold (stock headers, stock trans, stock torque converter) we were able to go 11.64 at 117.75mph!" Now That's what I call kicking *** in style!
