Re: Mechanic

That's really his call... Most mechanics won't, as far as I have come to find out.

Re: Mechanic

the intake will take about 1-2 hours and is pretty darn easy to do, so you might want to save a little and do it yourself.

Everything? I have done intakes and some exhaust, but I haven't and probably can't install gears

Re: Mechanic

Gears need to be done by someone you can trust with the correct experience.

What do newspapers have to do with intalling gears?

Seriously though, I've done my own gears, but seeing as how you have to have special measuring tools and know how, its recommended that a pro do the install.

Atleast have someone help you with the proper tools/experience doing this.

Re: Mechanic

It depends if the guy has experience in working with those parts then yes. If he is honest he may send you to someone, who he knows and trusts. My mechanic has done that for me before.

I well do most any work a customer asks me about except tuning. But I found that not all mechanics have an appreciation for performance, and as such just get a feel for what he seems to know and like. I do it cause I like it. When I did gears I got with a friend of mine that's done it for 21 years to help measure end play and pinion spacing. It can get quite involved.
