headers?

Hey guys, what do y'all recommend for headers on a 03Gt 4.6. Shortys or long tubes? An should I get a tuner to disable the 02 sensors to get it to run safely without the cats? What brand headers? Thanks a lot

Shortys don't do any better than the stock manifolds so basically long tubes or don't bother. A tuner is a must have anyway so ya pick one up. American muscle has the best deal going with free tunes for life so start there. I personally love Mac but it's a personal preference. You are gonna have to research which ones will clear your tranny if it's an auto. Happy driving

Everett , I so disagree
I have a good friend with a shop , dyno etc .. so i've spent time around the dyno with these guys and a good set of shorty's DOES Make power and ARE better than manifolds .... in some cases very little , like my Mach 1 for instance they really don't make a great set of shorty's for a 4 valve .. you may get 3 to 5 horse , but again that's better than your stock manifold , but not worth the money in my case /// I have a friend with an 07 PJ Saleen , he put JBA shorty's on it and they dyno tuned it and got 13 horses !!
Hell I have a 2006 4.0 we put shorties and duals on and i got 23 rwhp at the peak ,your not gonna tell me that was just from the Dual exhaust ?
YES Long tubes are way better , but a GOOD set of shorties is worth some power .....

Re: headers?

its not always the peak power that matters its under the curve where it can shine~ but long tubes seem to help more.

Further explaining the strength behind a Terminator Dyno Graph...

when Your graph looks like a shark fin you have a great dyno.. but when your graph looks like an inclining plateau early in the RPMS carried to the end of the powerband.. your doing so much better!

Aren't we talking about a 2v... That is the section we are in aren't we. Oh yeah we are. Shorties aren't cost effective on a 2v. And 5 hp for how much money. Please. Shorties might show some improvement on an 05 or newer but oh yeah we are talking about a 2v...so you can disagree all you like if we were talking about one of the models you are referring to. But we aren't. If I had posted my comment in a different section I would be wrong. But I didn't.
