How much horsepower do you guys think I'll get from putting on a CAI and a catback exhaust and then using an sct tuner? And do gears add power to the engine?

Re: Hp gains

probably 25-30 total~ the intake/exhaust kinda work together so you cant just add the gains from each together. The tune 10-15 perhaps depending on octane level and how lean you run it.

Prolly with a tune from a shop and a nice cat back and a good intake prolly 15-25 all together not to much.

The gears don't add power. But it sure feels like it.

I thought so, but the website says improves low-end torque

Re: Hp gains

well gears amplify tq, but dont increase what you had~ basically its a gear mechanism in the normal since. Think of it like one rotation of the rear tire before was 3.27 rotations per one rotation of the driveshaft. Now one rotation of the tires is 3.73~ you get more output from input but it takes more power to turn the wheels faster so your low end power is helped but you suffer on top end~ hope that helps.

Spector pretty much nailed this one other that the cai will give you a nice look but no gain....someone had to say it. I was waitin for joshy to show us what he's leaned but I fear I would be waiting for a while. Hehehe

Spec you have that backwards ,3.73 gears = 3.73 turns of the driveshaft equals 1 turn on the rear wheels !!!!

So how can the websites claim that it can give you like 15-20 horsepower?

Yeah, that would mean the higher the ratio the higher the top speed, which is the opposite of what really happens

They lie. A new edge gets no increase. Period. But they look nice

A new edge comes factory with a CAI.. An aftermarket one simply looks prettier usually.

Exactly. Unless your pushing 400 hp the stocker is fine. I am selling the bbk that's on my car if you want one op. I am strapping a procharger on and I don't think this is going to be compatible.

Hehehe....well I was reading thru threads on the corral a couple night ago and I found a thread where a guy was selling a nitrous kit. So I was reading thru the offers and there was a guy who asked the person selling the kit if he wanted to trade for a procharger and some cash. I pmed him right away saying I would and how much would he want taking my system in trade...he said 1200 bucks...I said done deal. I have prolly 1000 into my nitrous do basically paying 2200...22 bucks per hp...usually a 2v costs about 60 per hp...I consider myself up on this deal

Well I have come to find out that paypal insures you for either non-shipment or shipped parts that aren't what the seller says they are. I have the threads saved where the seller says everything is mint and the blower has 8000 miles on it. If it isn't what he says it is paypal will refund me...plain and simple. So I ain't worried. Paypal is a great way to pay. The guy I am buying from seems honest. I got him on my fb and I looked over all his stuff and it seems legit. And if it aint paypal refunds me...simple. I did my homework

Well I don't know about steal...a deal for sure but still a gamble til it's in my hands. The corral is the best place to find parts... THE BEST. They are the biggest mustang site that exists. I have bought every part on the car from there. All below retail. Just gotta keep your eyes open and have cash ready. If you really want a blower I can keep my eyes peeled for you...2000 and your in the game, money talks and if a guy is selling it's usually cause he really needs the money. That's how I found this guy. He is getting married next month and is liquidating assets to pay for the wedding. I spoke to his wife and she already has the money spent. Photographer or something.

this is also how you can figure out what gear ratio you have if you cant find it on the rear end or door jam.
