2003 ford mustang window control problem

Ok so here's the run down on what I need help with the driver side one touch switch does not work on the car I've put a test light so I know there is no broken wires also swapped out the switch think that was the case but still nothing so my next move would be to locate the main relay/ modular for that window anyone have any ideas as to where it's located I've check both fuse boxes on the car and found nothing

Well I would try tapping on the window motor because sometimes the motors get corrosion on the brushes and lose contact with the comutators. From the sounds of what your saying if you've got power to the switch the relay isn't the problem it's probably not the control side you want to be looking at I think you should check to see if the motor is getting power when you hit the switch up and down ( the switch just reverses the polarity to go the opposite direction) let me know what's the result.

Re: 2003 ford mustang window control problem

Had to do that to my gf's '02 GT last week as a matter of fact. Just hit the motor, it should roll on up or down, whatever the case is.

The motor is brand new also threw a test light on the wires and passed which rules out a broken wire also the switch is new to

Re: 2003 ford mustang window control problem

It's just the one touch that doesn't work? The window goes up and down?

If so you may just need to relearn/reprogram the window. Usually with a Chrysler product you follow these steps:
(I recommend you Google for a Ford way)

0. Start Car
1. Be sure window is all the way up
2. Hold down button until the window is completely down
3. Release button
4. Press button down and hold for 5 seconds
5. Release button
6. Hold Up button to roll window completely up
7. Release button
8. Hold button up for atleast 5 seconds
9. Release button.
10. Test One-Touch operation

If this doesn't work.. Google.

Yes the window works for normal controls of up and down as well as when you use the one touch for up it is just the one touch down that doesn't work

I think that the one touch is built in the switch. Prob just a bad switch. It actually is a circuit breaker. When the motor hits the end of travel it over amps and trips the circuit breaker and resets itself. Not positive but I am calling it the switch.

It's not uncommon to get a bad switch that's brand new either.

Right but wouldn't the light send up a red flag if the switch wasn't working properly I know on the vert models they call it the gem behind the kick panel on the driverside

No. As long as the button is held down it will light.

But what would odds be that both the old switch and the new one having the same problem the whole reason why the new switch went in was because I thought that the switch was going and then put the new one in and still end up with the same problem

I just found how to relearn the window in an old Mustang Mag... Haha good timing.

While rolling the window down with the door shut, you need to pull the fuse. Then reinstall the fuse. With the window in the down position pull the window switch to roll up then hold for 2 seconds after it reach the top. Once the window is raised completely, immediately lower it and hold the down switch in the down position for 2 seconds after the glass seats in the door. Cycle the window a few times and it should work ....read the pic
