99 cobra swap

I have a 99 cobra 4.6 liter 4valve and was wondering would it be worth swapping over to a 5.4 liter 4valve ? And if so how involved is the swap? Thanks in advance guys

Re: 99 cobra swap

sure , there's no replacement for displacement !!!
Definitely going to need an aftermarket k-member and probably custom headers for sure ....

Well I ask because I've seen people say that going from a 2valve gt motor to a 4valve 5.4 motor is alot more work than it's worth. I was wondering if going from a 4 valve 4.6 to a 4 valve 5.4 would be easier

Go to your local store and buy the current issue of 5.0 magazine. They did an entire write-up on engine swaps. They say it will be a nightmare swap to it in anything older than an 05

What kind of hp are you trying to achieve with that thing? A blower will prob give you what you need. You can pick up a stock 03-04 set up for cheap.

To be honest I'd be happy running 11's but more than anything I want to build an ls killer! Tired of hearing chevy guys talk about the only way we (ford) wins is by forced induction so I figure why not start on a more level playing field? They have a 5.7 and I'd have a 5.4.....then maybe add a forced induction setup later (procharger, turbo etc.)

Put a whipple on that thing and kick some *** dude. Pretty much if it's not forced induction or n2o. Your shooting yourself in the foot. I'm at 575 rwhp on a safe tune. Love it.

03. No good track times yet. Hoping for good 11's. Had to rebuild the trans. Haven't been back to the track yet.
