I took my cats off my 03 Gt today. I have a h pipe an magnapacks. It feels like it lost power. Anyone else with this problem? And for some reason the check engine light isn't on?

Re: catalytic converters

Without a tune it's possible that the computer could be unable to compensate and hurt you...

Or the loss of back pressure hurt low end (a little) and you miss it

Torque FTW

Loss of backpressure which means loss of a little low end torque. You gain it back on the top end of rpm range.

Would changing to 40 series mufflers will help me get some back pressure back and get the low end power back?

I wouldn't worry about a small amount of low end torque gone. U should be able to feel it in the top end. Just my opinion.

Then you shouldn't be worried about the little loss from removing the cats. You did the car a favor

No sir. I'll find you something else before flowmasters go on that car.

I bought my bassani's for under 150 shipped to my door.

I have magnapacks and an o/r x-pipe and I think it sounds awesome. You check engine light will come on don't worry. Check engine light= the computer detunes the motor for safety. This could be why you are losing power. The check engine light is probably pending now. Hook a scanner up to it and it will probably read a pending code. Then get yourself a set of MIL eliminators for about $70
