New To This

Hey Guys,
Just bought my first mustang. It's a Red '00 GT, 5 Speed with 56,000. Cowl Hood, Mach Chin Spoiler, Cobra Rims, stage 3 clutch, and true dual catted flowmaster exhaust. Bone stock other than that. I'm looking for some cheap easy things to free up some extra power. Its still gonna be my daily driver so I'm not looking for 450 hp or anything. I just want to get a little more out of it without completely killing my gas mileage. I heard Under drive pulleys are a decent place to start. Any other suggestions? Thanks!

Welcome! Nice mileage, too!
Gears would be your best bet IMO

Yeah I've been on there looking at their stuff and it seems like a good deal. I have a broad mechanical back ground and im sure I could do it myself. Any clue about specialty tools?

Tuner, your speedo will be off. It'll fix that and improve the overall power of your car

The gears I bought came with a module to plug in and adjust for the speedometer. I've looked at tuners but are they really worth the price? That seems like an awful lot of money

Welcome and a tuner is worth the money. AmericanMuscle.com has ones that will include lifetime tunes.

Post some pics, and I wouldn't do that yourself, it's risky stuff. I got 4.10+tuner and a CAI for like ~$750 well worth it. Had the gears pro-installed for $275 and glad I did. BTW, welcome!

I had the gears professionally installed bc I didn't want to take any risk. But I'm not sure I'm ready to throw out 450 or so on a tuner. And other cheaper suggestions?

Well the gears should have messed up the accuracy of your speedometer. Did the installers fix that themselves? If you, you will need a tuner to make it accurate again. Trust me, a handheld SCT is worth it.

Springs....springs....springs! I bet the neighborhood cats sleep in those wheel gaps, lol. But seriously some lowering spring will really set that car off and stop the body roll and nose dives during braking.

It'll look nice, but man will it ride like crap.

I'm attempting to stick with as much factory suspension as I can for now... Anytime ive lowerer cars in the past, even slightly, you feel everything. Almost makes me not want to drive it. Doesnt help that the roads in my area are TERRIBLE.

I hate Ohio.

Yeah, screw you and Texas. My brother used to live in Dallas (Plaino?), I'd visit him as often as possible.

I want to move my business down there or find a job and move. I very seriously hate living here.
