Re: how wide of tires

you have to consider rotation. If you dont care to rotate then you can go wider out back vs the front. If you want to stagger the sizes then make it worth while (as in go with a noticeable wider tire out back)

17x8 wide in the front with a 255/45/17 and a 17x10 out back with a 295/40/17 for example.

If you want to rotate then go with a 17x8 rim or a 17x9 rim. If you go 17x9 get 275/40/17 tires ONLY for them. If you want to go more narrow than that (smaller than 275mm wide) then go with a 17x8.

Re: how wide of tires

Yah I am a fan of 17x10.5" wheels with 315/35/17 tires.

18x10's are good too if you want the larger diameter wheel, but you lose that extra .5".

Either way they look badass on the stangs. Rotation is out of the question with those tires so keep that in mind.

you can rotate side to side but it gets costly breaking down the tires everytime. good thing i work at a dealer lol

Usually when you have 315s they are uni-directional. I don't know of any 315s that aren't. And did I read your other post correctly? You say you gave 305s in the front. Is that even possible?

I think you gave all your sizes wrong if the tires are on the wheels that are on your car in your current picture. Let me know. I'm curious

Re: how wide of tires

also remember just because a tire says "315" or some other number does not mean they all are the same width there is no standard.

i had no idea....thought it was a measure of width in mm.... thought just the sidewall was a variable percentage based on width ...good to know!!!

Yah this is true. My Sumitimo 315's are narrower than the 315 Goodyear F1 GSD3's (not made anymore). The outer lip of the rim is not protected at all. So the 315 in a Sumi might not be wide enough where a different brand 315 is.

Re: how wide of tires

My wife has 295/35-18 BFG's on 18x10's out back, 275/35-18 Toyo's on 18x9's up front.

I have 305/35-18 Toyo's on 18x10's out back and 275/35-18 BFG's on 18x9's up front.

I know...strange combination between cars...O well.

Nitto, Sumitomo are known to run narrow, BFG/Toyo/Goodyear and fairly close on sizes. Honestly, a 305 Toyo is a bit big for a 10" wheel. It definitely has some bulge.

the width is in mm's and all that is accurate but every tire maker conforms to its own standards so its not an actual 275mm or its measured in different places etc ets so two types of tires can be different width in reality even if they are the same size.

Those are what I have on my car...for some reason everyone thinks they are 18's. I've had a lot of people ask if the wheels are 18's...they do look bigger due to less sidewall compared to the fronts when on the car.
