aftermarket h-pipe question

I tried searching for the answer to this but I had very little luck. I was wondering if you can use an after market H-pipe with the stock exhaust? I am wondering if they will bolt up to one another or do you need to have an aftermarket catback exhaust?

Re: aftermarket h-pipe question

You can easily install an aftermarket H or X pipe in the place of your stock catback H pipe. You can order an aftermarket H with high flow cats on it. The way you worded your question contradicts itself. Could you clarify if not answered?

Re: aftermarket h-pipe question

Sorry if my question was unclear. You have stock exhaust manifolds then the stock h-pipe and then the stock catback. Can you replace the stock h-pipe with an aftermarket off road h-pipe well keeping the stock catback exhaust?

Re: aftermarket h-pipe question

the catalytic converters is located on the stock H pipe, whats after the stock H pipe is your mufflers. If you go with an aftermarket off road H pipe, you will have no cats left.

Re: aftermarket h-pipe question

I know that. Can I change out the stock H-pipe to an aftermarket off road H-pipe with out needing to change out the stock catback exhaust? Can I keep all the stock piping after the new H-pipe or do I have to buy an aftermarket catback exhaust to mate the new H-pipe to?

Re: aftermarket h-pipe question

oh no, you can keep everything else. I just got done installing an off road x pipe on my car. Just switch out H pipe and your done, taking out the stock pipe is fun, i tell ya. Dont forget to soak down the exhaust manifold nuts holding the h pipe on to make it easier for ya. and getting to the bottom nut on the drivers side is not easy with the O2 sensor in the way.

Re: aftermarket h-pipe question

Yes you can swap in an aftermarket h-pipe in place of your stock one. Keep in mind some h-pipes are made to work with longtubes only so make sure you order the regular sized pipe that'll bolt right up to the stock headers and not the shorty one.

Also, the off road midpipes eliminate the cats so you're going to trigger a cel for lack of 02 sensors. You'll need mil eliminators or a tune to clear that cel.
