I have an 04 that has had the procharger PS1 HO kit on it since my brother bought the car new. 10psi and no problems at all. Of course with that being said we don't beat on his car everyday but it should be able to handle 8 easily.

Re: thinking about a super charger

probably will cost you 6k give or take to get the kit and all parts, not counting labor

I can only speak on prochargers because that is all I have had. If you like the whistle even at idle then they are the way to go. I like it when people roll down the windows and listen. You can actually see guys telling their wives, that thing is super charged. Like their wife cares..lol.

Re: thinking about a super charger

8-10 psi is a good range, it can take more but you'd be living on the edge risking a bad tank of gas or something.

It all depends on the tune like was mentioned. You can run 14 psi and survive if your tune is dead on. You could blow your motor on 6 psi if your tune is generic and not dialed in. So it all depends on the tune.

Re: thinking about a super charger

yup but realize the tune is the MOST IMPORTANT part you cant just stick the one on that comes from say Vortech etc... it has to be tuned right, tuned safe not to the limit.

sounds like you should schedule a dyno session for a couple runs with an A/F check to see if you are rich, lean, good etc may have power on the table you are not aware of or the car could be dangerously lean etc.

My friend and I found out the hard way. His tune wasn't right on his procharged 00 GT pushing 15lbs and he shot a rod through the block last week. Time for a built motor.

Re: thinking about a super charger

As for cost, if your mechanically inclined you can do the install yourself. Most of the companies provide the installation manual online for free that you could download and review before buying...that will save easily $1,000 in labor costs. As far as the kit it depends on which version you buy, satin or chrome, high output, ECU upgrade and all the other option. If you install yourself you can get as low as $3500 without the tune or go as high as $6000 with options and tune plus labor.

I am so glad my car had all the motor mods on it when I bought it saves me a few grand but they did make me buy an extended warranty to cover the stuff under the hood.

get in with the local car clubs and the usually have a dyno day or so where you can get a couple pulls for cheap just to see what it makes and check the a/f

thats what i did, spend 40 bucks for 2/3 pulls with a club doing it.

I've had a Vortech 9lbs on my car since 07, no problems at all. Just get it tuned good by someone, dyno would be even better than just with a programmer.

You have stock internals? And how many miles did you have on your car when installed and how many miles does it have now?

Yea bone stock except for stage 2 comp cams. Had around 45000 and have almost 70000 now. And not easy on it either. Would suggest a set of cams also. Usually a 2 valve car with a blower and bolt ons make around 370-385 HP at the wheels. Mine put down 414 and 383 tq on 93 octane.

Planning on doing a head swap and possibly a intake swap also to a trick flow set up. Should have 500 or more then.
