Upper intake manifold

So my 96 Gt has three cracks intake manifold I'm gunna put a 99-04 Gt intake manifold on it for the gains. Smart or no? I just bought the car and the price is the same for the manifold. I'll get 15-20 hp gain.

Gains will be 0 unless you get 99-04 PI heads. I'm not sure what the difference between the 96-98 and 99-04 intake are. I'm sure someone can answer that.

Re: Upper intake manifold

Here is a write up for it, there is a good amoutn of "extra" work involved as the PI heads are slightly different from the NPI heads, plus there are extras for the PI intake as well. I dont think you will gain that much with the the PI intake swap, you have to remember you may be bringing more air in, but the NPI heads can only do so much with it.

False! you will pick up a few horses, nothing crazy but i made the same think and thats what i did, if i had my old dyno sheet id show ya, with a pi intake, 75mm and plenum from professional products i gained 20hp at the wheels.

Re: Upper intake manifold

its not going to cost much more for the newer style intake so why not? may give you a bit~ but its a start. If you really want to mess with it do the PI heads / intakes and end up wtih about 285hp (higher final compression on your motor = a bit more power)

Yeah but hes not going with the TB/Plenum combo at least he didn't state, so with just the stock tb/plenum combo just by adding a PI intake to non PI heads with no other mods to it he wont pick up much, adding a Bullet intake would add lil more than the PI Intake, but i don't know if that manifold will fit the NPI heads.
