You can replace the belt and/or the adjuster but you can't "tighten" it... I spilled some antifreeze on the belt on my 90 Mark 7 a few years ago and it always slipped on damp days after that...
Yes I had the same problem and I replaced the tensioner and belt with a dayco belt and it does the same thing it had a gatorback belt from Goodyear on it before so I put one on after and it fixed the issue : )
My work truck would always make noise right after it rained. I changed all pulleys on the front of the motor and belt so many time but always the same after rain. The thing that ended up fixing my problem was a gator back belt.
