rear exhaust looks better in my oppinion , but if you can get it real cheap you could try it then if your not happy with it just sell it and buy another one but i personally really like the rear exhaust look better

I like side exhaust but lowering your ride would be harder since you would scrape on everything. But I do love side exhaust.

Had an 05 with side exhaust, couldn't drive it lowered cause I scraped everywhere. Of you like he car low stick with a rear or dump it. I have an 04 with dumps and a v6 rear bumper, simple clean and loud as all get put.

Re: Rear exit sxhaust or side exit exhaust?

Well you guys have some excellent points. My car has Eibach Sportline springs. And sits low, but sence i already have 20" replicas and 275/35s on em then it kinda balances out the hight. However it never dawned on me to dump the exhaust.
@ one time i owened a 86 Monte SS and had dual flomaster 40s dumped @ the axel.... MAN IT SOUNDED SWEET!!!!!

So i think thats what ill do. Good thing i asked yalls opinion before i paint her this coming weekend. Now i can make some fillers for my rear bumper cover. Thanks guys Dumpin em @ the axel is what im gonna do....

Re: Rear exit sxhaust or side exit exhaust?

I prefer rear for a couple reasons....

It looks better IMHO.

The sound is less intrusive in the car at cruising speeds.....and it's less of a problem at drive through stuff.

A side exit exhaust probably has a nasty 90* bend in it

I don't want the sout :sp: all down the side of my car, especially if it starts buring a lil oil or running rich...

Re: Rear exit sxhaust or side exit exhaust?

My Roush came with Roush Side Pipes of course with the Roush lowered Stage 2 Suspension. It sits low already plus the side pipes make it that much lower. Once you get used to it, it's really not an issue. You'll know to plan out your routes to avoid speed bumps or steep entry ways...other than that side pipes all the way!

Depends on how much sound you want. Side exit exhaust would look b.a. And you will hear it very well. Rear looks great dual exhaust chrome tips. Rear you will hear less. Turn downs are nice too. They give the car a lot or rumble. However the you sound is enormous inside the cab. I am about to swap my glass packs rear exit and put magnaflow chambered turn downs on my gt. Also I had flows turned down on a dodge truck with a 318. I almost lost it numerous times on a 4 hour trip cause of the drone.

Re: Rear exit sxhaust or side exit exhaust?

the issue with side exhaust is it will scrape bad, and cause issues. Best to avoid it.

Yes scraping is a problem and not good for the paint where it exits since the car wasn't made for it

I say it really depends on the driver. I've now put 7K miles on the roush and have scrapped about 5 times...3 or 4 of them were in the first 2 weeks learning where I could and couldn't drive and what I could cover over safely. Once you know your car and what it can and can't go over it's not really a big deal.

true a lot of it is due to the driver and how they drive the car etc or if the car is really lowered as mine is

LMAO 03GT88.... I know what ya mean on long trips.
Thanks alot everyone you all have given me some valid points to consider.
I have been swayed from dumps, to rear exit.
But i am going to remove the Magnaflows anf install the SLPs.... But sence i dont have any chrome im going to powder coat the SLP tips flat black to match the car...

Side exhaust all the way. That way you can be an equal opportunity offender while taking up the middle lane of any 3 lane road or highway.

Re: Rear exit sxhaust or side exit exhaust?

Question...since I don't believe there were pics of the rear bumper...what type of bumper do you have?

If you have one with the exhaust cutouts please do rear exit...nothing worse than seeing a nice v8 car with dumps or side exhaust and 2 gaping empty holes in the rear bumper.

I say any one of the three exhaust options is a win but if you do either dumps or side exhaust, get a v6 bumper or Roush etc...something without cutouts.

Lies. You prefer cut-outs coming out under the front doors.

i agree if you have the rear bumper cuts out for the exhaust stay with rear exit or get a bumper that doesn't have the cut outs it does look awful with the cut outs without pipes.

The roush side skirts with side pipes looks amazing in my opinion
