A/C Help! PLEASE ITS HOT

So my A/C has decided it doesnt want to work. I have checked the fuses under the dash and all is well there however there is one under the hood that is missing. the fuse diagram says A/C press (compressor im guessing) but the weird thing is there is nothing for the fuse to connect to, its just an empty slot. Can any help?

I wouldn't fret over the fuse spot. It obviously doesn't apply to your model or something. If the blower motor ain't working then it's most likely your blower motor resistor block that's bad.

Probably not enough freon. There is a min and max pressure where the ac won't work. If you went over or under the set pressures it won't work

You will need a set of r134a high and low pressure gauges. Might be better off going to a shop.

Your condenser is up front (radiator area) and I didn't pay attention to your car, but if it gas a shroud around the fan and it got damaged it would blow hot too

With the ac running. I would expect to see around 35 on low side and around 200 on high side. But outside temp plays a big part in pressure

Google. R134a pressure temperature chart. And see what you get

Okay thanks! And just thinking a step ahead here... If my pressures are okay whats next? Also, if the compressor wont kick on, will the high side even get a reading?

If the compressor won't kick on. Both sides will read same pressure

Low pressure side reads 29 psi. Ford says that is fine. So what's next to check?

Alright still many things that it could be. Ac control panel, ccrm, or compressor itself. Maybe high or low pressure switch as well. Takes a lot of testing

Hey I'm a mechanic I would try spinning the compressor by hand I've seen where the compressor seizes but doesn't tear the belt off . If it doesn't turn check for power at the compressor if there is power seized compressor is the culprit

If the compressor was seized and the clutch was engaging we have two scenarios. One the belt would squeal and smoke like hell. Or two. The car would die. I believe his problem lies elswere

Re: A/C Help! PLEASE ITS HOT

my 2001 had an issue where the air would blow but it would get hot, it ended up being some little sensor or something that went bad. I wish I could remember what it was but this was a long time ago

I wonder if a scan would show any codes?

Nope. Scan won't. And the sensor was most Likely a low pressure switch

Re: A/C Help! PLEASE ITS HOT

low pressure switch is usually on the receiver/dryer. You can disconnect the plug from the switch and short the connections in the plug to see if the clutch engages. If it does, then it's the switch, which means he will lose his a/c charge when he changes it

Not if you know how to change it fast

Re: A/C Help! PLEASE ITS HOT

Check the low pressure switch first by jumping (like said above), if that works then the low pressure switch is bad. When replacing it there is a schrader valve inder it that will keep the freon in so you will not loose any. If that is not it check the high pressure switch. If both switches are bad then check the CCRM located under the passenger fender. You can reach it from under the hood just next to the air filter box. Try tapping it while the car is running and the AC is on and see if the compressor kicks in. I did that with my 01 two years ago and is has worked ever since.
