Re: good bolt ons to start with?

i got 3 73 right now. im guessing 4 10 would be the best choice right? based on what ive seen from others.. how hard is it to change them?

Re: good bolt ons to start with?

woulnt recomend doing it yourself. takes experience and special tools to set the ring and pinion. but if you have 3.73 already i would just stick with them. i figured you had stock exhaust.

Re: good bolt ons to start with?

subframe connectors first

After that it all depends on what you want.....lowering springs and wheels for looks

Exhaust for sound

CAI for a prettier underhood that breathes better

Gears to really wake it up

Do the mods you want to do......then get a tune

Re: good bolt ons to start with?

If youre looking for best bang for the buck you should get a PI intake Manifold. Cost less then getting gears and only takes a few hours to install with little modification. Then get a tuner. It'll run you around $800 all together and you will see a much larger increase in power, acceleration, and throttle response then anything else you would do in that price range.

Exhaust! Headers x pipe and mufflers. Improves sound and performance. And then your choice on w.e bolt ons you like, all will be around the same gains.

Re: good bolt ons to start with?

ahhh i see. so if im gonna out an intake manifold im guessing i should also go ahead and add a cai.
do subframe connectors add a noticable change? cuz my cars a little shaky and from what ive read this happens most on convertibles like mine...its also lowered. the slightest bump on the road shakes the whole thing up.. would installing these help out?

You don't "have" to do a cai with the intake manifold but it doesn't hurt, and if you order a tuner which you really should get with the manifold you can order a combo kit from americanmuscle with a tuner and a cai. The subframe connectors do help the body with flex and help keep the tires on the ground for less wheel hop,but for the rattling that comes with lowered mustangs you need a bushing kit.

I'd say if your lookin at getting the most hp gain any don't mind learning a bit about your engine in the process is to get PI heads. I know it's not a bolt on but you can pick up a used set from someone who put on aftermarket ones for a very cheap price and it's gonna be a massive difference power compared to any exhaust or intake

That is the best bang for the buck, but don't be fooled into thinking its as cheap as people say. I looked into it before starting my modest build. It runs about 2k to get all the parts and do the swap. Now if you know people or have connects it can be significantly cheaper but if you don't have those connects look to spend a bit of money.

Well I'm lookin at possibly selling mine here soon when I get the cash for my trick flows and I'd sell mine complete and for dirt cheap. I don't know all about doing a non PI head swap to a PI so if there was any other things other then gaskets I'm not sure.

Re: good bolt ons to start with?

as I am sure has already been said, no bolt ons will get you any real gains. Install some new rear end gears (3.73 if manual 4.10 if auto) and rebuild the tlok unit.

After that do a PI swap (99+ GT heads/intake) to gain up from where you are stock to around 285hp~ best way to go

Got to blueovalchips.com. they sale an intake manifold swap kit. It comes with everything you need. The guys there are really helpful but a bit hard to get a hold of sometimes. They have all the dyno sheets and info to show you the gains you can expect. You will want a tuner to get the most power out of the swap. The swap itself is pretty easy. It comes with all the instructions. The modifications that you have to make are simple and straight forward. I have it done to my car,and other issues not with standing, I am very happy with the swap. Plus well the top of the motor is apart you get to clean everything really well.

No problem. Everyone always gives the same answers to your question. "Get a sc,do a PI head swap, spend $1,000 on bolt ons that add little power." I like this swap because you get real power for little money. The tuner is the real deal. You should really look into getting one. What's even better about the intake swap is that it makes whatever bolt ons you have or will get produce better power then if you had the non pi swap.

The manifold is pretty easy.took me a like 2-3 hours. Really its up to you which you do first. They are both good.
