I was going to do this with my 07 GT when I get the bread. If you do end up going for it, post your feedback.

Re: Stroker kit?

What are your goals? It really depends on what you want to do......

If you want better gas mileage, then no, it's not worth it....If you just want to efficiently make 400 RWHP, then there are better ways....If you want to build a setup for (or begin the stages of a build for) 700 HP, then it's a good idea

Re: Stroker kit?

probably not, due to the money, labor, and hassle AND what if it wasnt installed right and your engine goes boom.... they wont cover it you are screwed and out every penny could upgrade to a new car for the cash of building your motor~ something to think about.

Plus its not easy to sell mustang with those mods generally

Re: Stroker kit?

you cant stroke the 4.6 to much more than a 5.0 or a 5.1 wiTch is about 20 -25 cubes , worth an xtra 30 - 40 hp on average ,if your rebuilding your motor anyway I say its worth it as the cost wont be a lot more than a fresh rebuild anyway .. but if your doing it for just the sake of doing it , then no its not worth it IMO ...

I will have to get you the link, but I did find a 5.1 already assembled. Would that be a better buy?

A stroker kit simply isn't worth it for what you want. "different" isn't always the best option....if it's not common, there's a reason.

And to comment on what the guy said earlier, there is nothing wrong with a stroked daily. Properly setup it should drive fine, last forever, and even get decent MPG's.....but that would take more $$$$ than it's worth if you're not wanting big HP.

My advice would be to just install the Kenne Bell you mentioned, be happy with 400-450 RWHP, and call it a day

That is $3699, + quite a bit for install....and with everything else as is, you'd gain probably 25-25 RWHP.

With that, ported heads, cams, and an intake you'd probably gain 100ish RWHP.

And you'd be $7-10K in....

For $3-4K you can add a supercharger or turbo and reliably make 100-150 more HP.

Something to think about...

Now that I think about it, it makes more since just to throw a turbo or supercharger on. But I was just seeing about the kit.

I've heard that the stroker kits for the 4.6 are extremely unreliable. If you even have a thought that maybe something might not be right I wouldn't do anything until it is right. I wanna put a kenne bell 2.1 on my 02 gt but I just simply dont want to take the chance on destroying the engine.

I'm goin to build mine a little before I put one on. My car just turned over 166,000 miles and I'm goin to get me somethin I can drive back and forth to work instead of the mustang. But then I'm just goin to be putting money in the car.

Mines only got 74k on it and I baby it around. I really just don't want to put all that money into something and lose it to a failure that could have been prevented. Some idiot was tellin me the other day that h beam rods aren't even worth replacing your old rods with, that the stock rods are just as good. Lol I looked at him and said, well have fun taking that chance with stock rods and big mods.

Lol should I get my motor rebuild before adding boost? When I was in the Honda scene(glad I'm not anymore) before you could run over 10 psi you had to rebuild it. Or you would tear somethin up. I'm sure these motors are a lot stronger but would it be better if I just got it rebuild then add boost?

Depends. Cause if you have just a supercharger and all the required stuff to use it you can run it safely but you have to be a little more gentle with it. The 4.6 loves superchargers but if your looking at getting anywhere near 500hp you need to regut it. $1400 for rods and pistons is alot better then $5k for a new motor or car lol

Kenne bell by far. Much more expensive but it's a twin screw not centrifugal and it makes alot of whine which I love alot of supercharger whine lol but the kb makes alot more hp. It can make 107% hp increase on a 100% stock motor so over 520 hp from a single mod.
