Throw Out Bearing?

Last time I had a sqeaking noise (2001 Ford Ranger) it was my throw out bearing and it was making it hard to shift and gears were getting that "sticky" feeling. Same symptoms for my 04 GT. Its got about 56K on it now with the original clutch and TOB. Any suggestions? I saw a thread about the Ford Heavy Duty TOB but not sure if thats still the best one out there. Also any suggestions on a clutch bc I might as well upgrade it while I'm down there.

Re: Throw Out Bearing?

I'm no manual transmission expert by any means but I'd say the TOB is the cause.

I've heard good things about the Spec Stage 1 clutches and the RAM clutches.

Yeah I've been researching. I want something performance based with longevity as well.

Ram HDX clutches are amazing!
I have a 3 month old Spec stage 1 and the TOB it came with is squeaking already. (everything was properly installed and triple-checked)

Re: Throw Out Bearing?

dont use any brand but ford for the throwout bearing. You can try to adjust your clutch to take up a bit of slack and it may save it for a while

Re: Throw Out Bearing?

Spec makes an awesome actual pressure plate, clutch, and flywheel. They are all i will ever run, but in the way of a throw out bearing, DEFINITELY ford. I had to drop my transmission 3 times before actually going to ford, and getting on of their TOBs, the ones from National, Spec, and Zoom(idk y i thought zoom would do it) didnt work.

My .02... Spec clutch, Ford TOB.

To be honest it's usually tob or pressure plate malf. I just replaced both because my car wouldn't even go into gear, bought a brute power stage 2 has great reviews and plus they're guaranteed to last I got a two year unlimited mile warranty with mine. Plus I got it for 100 at price of cost.
